Trinity Drama

From Script to Stage:
Unleash Your Inner Performer with Lorna Whiston Schools.

For students ages 13 to 18 years old.

At Lorna Whiston Schools, our Trinity Drama programme encourages students to engage in a wide range of performance activities. It offers students the opportunity to present scenes from plays, from contrasting periods of dramatic literature, as well as giving them a chance to develop scenes through improvisation over an extended period of time with added spontaneity.

Crafting Critical and Creative Thinkers.

In today’s world, personal, social and cultural issues are complex and interconnected.

Brainstorming plays a big part in this Trinity Drama programme. Students start from scratch, and are encouraged to think big to come up with something great. These skills are guided by the teacher to stimulate the development of ideas on topics. The idea is their starting point.

Complements the MOE Syllabus.

Trinity Drama features poetry, prose and plays studied in the ‘Literature in English’ Singapore Cambridge GCE examinations.

Trinity’s graded Acting exams and Performance Certificates are designed to support candidates to develop a range of transferable 21st century skills that can have a positive impact in both education and the workplace. The Trinity Drama Individual Speech and Drama Examinations earn UCAS points as well!

By working towards these exams, a range of other skills not assessed directly are developed in students that are highly valued by schools and employers: self-motivation, ability to learn and adjust, working to deadlines, organisational skills, flexibility and teamwork.

Confidence and Language Takes Centre Stage.

Trinity Drama motivates students to be confident and expressive speakers both on stage and in everyday social settings. Our programme encourages analysis, reflection and understanding of the subtleties of the English language. This increases vocal awareness for both speaking and writing. Students use this increased language awareness when writing scripts and for daily communication.

Trinity Drama brings the English Language to life.

Students are taught how to use literature, both old and modern, for the stage, which often mirrors that which is used in examinations. For example, students present monologues and scenes from various plays, including Macbeth, Lord of the Flies and DNA.
